    Joe is the Founding Artistic Director of theShakespeareProject LLC; promoting the restoration of a grass roots interest in Shakespeare and the classics through original scripting of live performance vehicles, local production, resident and guest artist programs; elementary–professional. Major projects include “Rehearsing With Shakespeare” ™, a series of original, adaptable, edited & narrated plays of Shakespeare for elementary students, and extended Resident Teaching Artist programs in schools as Shakespeare Specialist; First Folio 1623-based disciplines written in dynamic and eclectic formats; syllabi for students of all age groups to professionals; instruction–from general Shakespearean awareness and appreciation to specialized classical verse/performance- vocal/acting technique. Multiple grants/support by arts/educational organizations: The National Endowment for the Arts, The International Baccalaureate Program (”IBP World School“), City Council for the Borough of Queens, NY, state, regional, school board, PTA, and corporate institutions. He also teaches acting styles, scene study, and coaches privately–and in groups, when he can find willing victims. He has appeared in public offerings of his own adaptations in the persons of Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, and Ludwig Van Beethoven (not simultaneously, of course…though it is an idea…hmm). His adapted/narrated version of The Tragedie of Macbeth, for elementary school actors, has been performed on regional cable television. Joe’s diverse credits as a Producer/Director/Dramaturgist range widely–from a two hour Hamlet to the wacky, Shakespeare-inspired musical, Return to the Forbidden Planet. He has given public lectures and conducted Master Classes on Shakespeare’s poetical/theatrical technique, sponsored by The McDonogh School, MD, The NJ State Council on the Arts,The Burlington County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, and various local NJ arts organizations.

    Joe made his world premiere as a professional actor as a guest artist for Baltic State University in St. Petersburg, Russia, creating the leading role in the world premiere of the poem-play Hymn to the Chesapeake, by published poet/novelist Robert P. Arthur. He also created the role of Theseus/Teddy for Mr. Arthur, as well as assisted in editing and script revision, for the world premiere of Arthur’s modern adaptation of Phaedra, playing opposite Slovakian international film star, Ina Gogalova Marojevic in the title role. His performance was noted “Best Actor in a Play” by Port Folio Magazine–a regional award for theatrical excellence. Guest Artist appearances: International Society of Poets Symposium, Washington D.C.; Actor/Narrator, Virginia Symphony Orchestra: Touring in Peter and the Wolf; Beethoven Festival-as Beethoven; Holiday Pops Festival-‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.
