Octavia is Caesar’s sister. She is offered as a wife to Antony to seal a bond between him and Caesar.
Cold, pious and proper, she is in every way the opposite of Cleopatra. She is deeply attached to her brother and weeps to leave him. She is horrified when Caesar and Antony fall out, feeling she’s caught in the middle. Antony allows her to go to Caesar to attempt to mediate between them, but when she arrives at Caesar’s camp she discovers that he did so as it gave him an opportunity to run off to Egypt.
