Angelo is a goldsmith in Syracuse, the maker of a fine gold chain commissioned by Antipholus of Ephesus.
He is not happy at being denied lunch at Antipholus’s. He is waiting to be paid for the chain to be able to settle his debt with the Second Merchant. He is chary of his reputation and confused by Antipholus of Syracuse’s actions, though finally convinced of the man’s unfortunate madness. He bears witness to all he knows before the Duke.
