Henry 4, Part 2 Characters

Lord Hastings is one of the rebels against King Henry IV.

More optimistic than either the Archbishop or Lord Bardolph, he discounts the necessity of Northumberland’s support in making plans, trusting in the fact that the king’s own forces are divided into three armies in different parts of the country. Certain that the King is weak, he is foolish enough to think that a few threats will suffice, and he agrees to disperse the rebel army once Prince John has sworn to rectify the wrongs the rebels complain of. This overconfidence gets his head chopped off.
