Matthew PerifanoMusician Matthew Perifano has put music to the words of Shakespeare in a new concert called Shakespeare & Me. Accompanying Perifano on the twelve compositions is Josh Raoul Brody, a long time staple of the music and performing arts scene in the San Francisco Bay Area. Both will perform the the Shakes Bear concert as part of Lazy Bear week up in Russian River.

Through song, Shakespeare & Me chronicles Perifano’s curious, evolving relationship with the work of Shakespeare from his first youthful musical collaborations as a member of Birnam Wood (a psychedelic Shakespeare commune in the 70s) to his more recent, mature interpretations of Shakespeare’s verse in the aftermath of the AIDS epidemic. Shakespeare & Me pays tribute to the power of poetry in our lives.

Perifano is also known for his musical work with Subterranean Shakespeare on Shakespeare's Greatest Hits CD, which was reviewed last year (http://www.playshakespeare.com/stories/250/2179).
